AT&T launches the LG Incite smartphone

Posted by: rubbi

Only three days after launching the Samsung Eternity, AT&T has released another new Windows Mobile smartphone, this time made by LG.

LG Incite is the new handset and, like Eternity, it runs on Windows Mobile 6.1 and features a 240 x 400 pixels TFT touchscreen display (only a bit smaller: 3 inches, as opposed to the 3.2 inches of Samsung Eternity’s screen).

Available in the US exclusively from AT&T, the new WM handset from LG has a simple but quite unique design. It has only two hardware buttons on the front, the rest of them being arranged on the sides. The specs of LG Incite include: Read the rest of this entry »

AT&T Quickfire Review

Posted by: rubbi

Posted in: AT&T

Upon first seeing the phone, I discovered it is rather large when compared to other text-centric phones. I believe that it was designed this way on purpose so that those who text a lot can grip onto the device with both hands. While AT&T Quickfire could be used with one hand, it would be quite uncomfortable to text this way. Especially since the screen would be slid out to expose the keyboard. I did notice, however, that it seems to be easy enough to grip with one hand when the screen is slid shut.

AT&T Quickfire keyboard is a good size. The buttons are large enough and there is enough space in between each button to help distinguish what you’re typing as to limit the number of mistakes made while texting. The only buttons available when the keyboard is slid shut are the three at the bottom: one for answering/making the call, one for ending the call, and the button in the middle to access a quick menu with options for calls, messaging, email, and internet. The Quickfire slides open to reveal a spacious keyboard. Read the rest of this entry »

AT&T Mobility CED, Ralph De La Vega, has recently announced the arrival of the tethering plans for the iPhone. We all knew that AT&T has been working with Apple to bring an official tethering plan to iPhone customers, but no previous details have been leaked. AT&T has always done their best to bring customers what they want in a cellular service, iPhone owners have been asking for a tethering plan for over a year not but AT&T could not deliver because of the network. Ralph De La Vega said, “Regardless of how many billions of dollars AT&T pours into their 3G network, it hasn’t been stable enough to handle all you iPhone users,”

AT&T is simply worried as to how well the network will hold up to millions of users all jumping on at one time. They have never has such an issue because there has never been such a huge rush in data use in their history. There is still no word on an official launch date. Here are the details on the iPhone tethering plans: Read the rest of this entry »

AT&T Fuze

Posted by: rubbi

Posted in: AT&T

The Fuze is quite a bit smaller than the Tilt at 4.02? x 2.01? x 0.71?. It is still a little more weighty (5.8 oz) than I hoped, but I did enjoy the fact that it easily fits in the palm of my hand without feeling bulky or clunky. HTC opted for a more glossy black look this time, with a rectangular look instead of rounded. The back of the Fuze has a style similar to that of the Touch Diamond, with triangles positioned in a interesting manner. I felt it was a unique twist and a bold move, considering the Fuze’s target audience will be more business-oriented. Well, after all the leaks and rumors, AT&T Fuze (aka HTC Touch Pro) is finally available.

And to help you decide whether it’s worthy your attention or not, we already have a full AT&T Fuze review for you.

I had the opportunity to get my hands on an AT&T Fuze a couple days ago to demo and review in time for the anticipated launch of November 11. The AT&T Fuze is Big Blue’s version of the HTC Touch Pro, a device that has already been available outside North America and was launched recently by Sprint. This particular phone is replacing the year-old AT&T Tilt that overall was a good phone but due for a face lift. Read the rest of this entry »

Let’s start off with the physical design differences. This are quite minor. The only obvious change that we can see in the i907 Epix version of the device is that it is thicker, which allows the Epix to hold a larger battery. This, of course, also increases its weight. The i907 Epix measures up at 116.5mm x 61.5mm x 15.5mm (4.6″ x 2.4″ x .6″) in size and weighs a solid 136g (4.8oz). That’s 2.5mm thicker and 16g heavier. It is still very pocketable, and the 7 hours of talk time or 14 days of standby time are well worth it.
While the i907 Epix’s name might suggest that this smartphone has more to do with the i907 Omnia that Samsung sells in other markets, the Epix is really just a slightly reworked version of the company’s existing i780 that is sold in Europe and Asia. As such, the vast majority of our original i780 review will apply directly to the i907 Epix, and we recommend you read that review once you’ve taken a few moments to look over what has changed for this AT&T version of the device. att.jpgThe slim, pocket-sized AT&T Tilt smartphone is bursting at the seams with a full-menu of wireless capabilities to keep you connected wherever you roam on this globe–quad-band GSM for global roaming, Wi-Fi, EDGE, and 3G data connectivity via AT&T’s UMTS/HSDPA-based BroadbandConnect network.

Practical and versatile, the phone’s face slides open to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard while the screen tilts for optimal viewing of email, spreadsheets, and web videos. With its high-speed 3G network capability, you’ll be able to access AT&T’s Mobile Music and Cellular Video services, and the phone includes the latest version of Telenav GPS Navigator for turn-by-turn directions while on the go.
