LG VX5500, one of the latest flip phones prepared by Verizon Wireless, is said to be launched before the end of October, for a price as low as $49.99 with a 2-yr contract agreement and a $50 mail-in rebate.

The VX5500 will come as the successor of LG VX5400, which is currently being offered by Verizon for free (with a 2-yr agreement). So, yeah, this is a basic phone for people with basic mobile needs.

This new clamshell looks OK, but it has a design that surely won’t scream “I’m unique” to anyone.

KF350’s main technical features are straightforward and somewhat unexciting. This is a tri-band GSM phone with a fixed focus 3 megapixel camera, a 2.2″ 240 x 320 pixel display, Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0, microSD expandable memory, a multimedia player and an FM radio.

However, if you look closely at the KF350 you can see a semi-translucent cover that conceals a 5 x 23 pixel LED display that can do a variety of things, including showing the time or displaying incoming numbers. We have seen this on a few phones before, but it is still quite uncommon and it is a rather nice feature. The case itself is available in a pale blue or pale pink colour, and we must say that it does look rather attractive and quite unusual.

At 101 x 51 x 15mm and 102 grams, the LG KF350 is a little on the large size.. you would probably expect it to be a 3G phone, but it isn’t. The large size is used to create a well-spa, At present, the only confirmed availability of the LG KF350 is in Russia, Read the rest of this entry »

The LG HB620T is a strange looking device, with a wide aspect screen and an antenna that sticks out of the back. The reason for these odd looks is simple - the HB620T includes a DVB-T digital TV receiver.

DVB-T is what most people would regard as a “standard” terrestrial digital TV signal, used in the UK for Freeview boxes and pretty much everywhere else in Europe for over-the-air digital TV. Until recently, most of the handful of mobile phones that could receive a digital TV signal used DVB-H, a variation of the domestic DVB-T signal, but designed for mobile devices. The Nokia N77, N92 and Samsung F510 are a few examples of handsets with DVB-H built in.

So why did LG choose DVB-T for the HB620T? Simply because DVB-H coverage is limited to a small number of places, and DVB-T is available pretty much everywhere. But DVB-T has two major drawbacks, one of which is that the transmitters work on different frequencies which means that a DVB-T receiver will have to rescan when it moves between transmitters, whereas DVB-H is designed to use the same frequency between all transmitters in a network. The video signal on DVB-H has also been adjusted to mean that it requires less power to decode it, so mobile DVB-T devices will tend to drain the battery quite quickly. Read the rest of this entry »

One feature that will manage to place LG KG275 above other low-end mobile phones capable of similar performances will surely be its design. “The slimmer, the better”, current mobile phone producers seem to say and the same goes for LG too referring to this device. There are many people willing to choose one device over another just on account of the fact that it has a more appealing design and a slimmer case.

LG KG275 comes in some extremely comfortable sizes, to the delight of those who love small mobile phones. Its dimensions of 98.0 x 45.0 x 12.9 mm and weight (60 grams including battery) make it one incredibly small and light handset. The LG KF310 is a slightly odd 3G phone from this prolific Korean manufacturer. While most modern handsets sprout buttons and control keys all over the place, the KF310 appears to be almost shockingly minimalist when it comes to design. When closed, the main feature of the KF310 is the unusually simple navigation key which might make you think that the handset only has a limited number of features. But in fact, the KF310 comes with a 2 megapixel camera plus a secondary video calling camera, an MP3 player, microSD expandable memory, an email client and web browser.. pretty much everything that you would expect to find in a modern handset. The majority of the mobile services users know LG Company for its designer’s masterpiece “Chocolate”. But it turns out that besides premium phone this producer has also good budget phones. One of them is the new CDMA LG TD636 which cannot surprise its users by anything besides voice mail. But for some people this equipment is an absolute advantage. Since for the people who use the phone for its direct purposes that are to make phone calls, the main reasons for choosing a phone are the talk time without charging and the connection quality. All the above mentioned is of a very high quality in LG TD636. It was surprising that the net indicator showed almost complete lack of connection while the connection was rather satisfactory.
